Nourishing Life | The Breastfeeding Way

Bond, Comfort, Feed

Breastfeeding is beautiful, but it sure isn’t easy. With support and education, my hope is to empower you with your body’s innate ability to provide for your baby.

Breastfeeding Classes

Included as part of my Childbirth classes, I teach a 2 1/2-hour in-person breastfeeding class that is open to the community. It’s also available as a stand-alone class for those who don’t need birth classes but would like more information about breastfeeding.

In my class, I cover:

  • The Benefits of Breastfeeding

  • 10 Steps to a Successful Latch

  • The First Initial Breastfeed

  • Breastfeeding Positions

  • The Lifestyle of Breastfeeding

  • Steps to Building a Healthy Milk Supply

  • And Common Breastfeeding Problems and How to Manage Them.

This class takes place on a weekday morning from 9:30-Noon in the Northern IN area. It is included in the cost of my 4-session Childbirth course, but if you wish to attend the breastfeeding class alone, it is $50.

Lactation Support

As a CAPPA-trained Lactation Educator, I am thrilled to be able to provide Lactation Support to my community.

The first week of a newborn’s life can be filled with many challenges, and latch issues and injured nipples are critical to address early on.

I am happy to offer virtual Breastfeeding Consults. During a one-hour visit, we may discuss:

  • Finding comfortable, sustainable nursing positions both mom and baby will love

  • Steps to achieving a successful, pain-free latch

  • How to assess the quality of a newborn latch

  • Pros and cons of nipple shields

  • Alternative breastfeeding methods such as pumping, hand expressing, or cup/spoon/syringe feeding

  • Proper nipple care and how to expedite healing

  • Preparing to breastfeed in public

  • Steps to building a healthy milk supply

  • Postpartum stress, birth trauma, safe sleep, or anything else that’s on your mind

  • Referrals to a newborn chiropractor, IBCLC, breastfeeding support group, or other professional if needed

  • Any other lactation questions you may have

All consults also include text/email/phone support for any questions you may have in the following weeks.

I can’t wait to work together!
